The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Oh yes. For those of you not in the know (about three of you by my count) the Mummy series returns and without the whining Rachel Weisz. Unfortunately, John Hannah’s character is set to return as the obligatory twat of a sidekick. Jet Li stars as the big baddie and Michelle Yeoh also contributes to the mix.

Whatever anyone says, I enjoyed the Mummy films. Okay they were silly and okay Rachel Weisz manages to annoy you faster than a Phaal can make you realise “something tastes a bit hot”, but still the films were silly fun. Nothing like a bit of silly fun to get you in the mood. If you are unsure of the term “silly fun” try googling the word “Zorbing”. Oh yes…and yet the lates director Rob Cohen (a man who made the XXX sequel and has an in production film called “King of the Nudies”…I’m not kidding) seems not to be despondent at the fact that Mummy 3 is to be released the same year as the latest Indiana Jones..Er..in my deepest and humblest opinion, the man is a moron of the highest degree. The Mummy series is good enough to stand on its own. It doesn’t need to ride the slipstream of Mr Jones and The Kingdom of the whatsits! Anyway the previous director, Stephen Sommers has decided to direct another quality production….the aforementioned G.I. JOE. He sounds like a bright fellow as well. Anyway, I hope triple x man doesn’t bastardise the series…I mean how can make something that was mediocre even worse? Don’t answer that.. And what about Jet Li? Don’t get me wrong I am always very impressed by his acrobatics (disguised as martial arts) and I’m sure he could whip me better than a dominatrix. However, name one film that he has starred in that is not in a bargain bin down your local Blockbusters! I bet you can’t…
The synopsis is as follows: Rick O’Connell (Fraser) combats the resurrected Han Emperor (Jet Li) in an epic that races from the catacombs of ancient China high into the frigid Himalayas. Rick is joined in this all-new adventure by son Alex (newcomer Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello) and her brother, Jonathan (John Hannah). And this time, the O’Connells must stop a mummy awoken from a 2,000-year-old curse who threatens to plunge the world into his merciless, unending service.
Wow, sounds thrilling. Let’s hope that Rick doesn’t turn up in a blinging orange Supra with NOS coming out of its doors (like The Fast and the Furious). Let’s hope Cohen will stay true to the foundation films. Here’s hoping. Here’s a photo of Brendan looking cool:

Actually i quite like the idea of Jet Li as bone breaking arse kicking baddie its a part he plays well (lethal weapon 4 for instance). However I’m all for dropping Rachel or do i mean dogging cant decide but its the thought that counts:mrgreen:. Lets hope its full of crap anecdotesand a scarcely believable story line then it might actually be watchable.

Never seen Lethal Weapon 4 and never want to.  And I’m with the dogging dropping you mentioned. Anyway, welcome to the rants…
